This can be hard to do when you're burning the candle at both ends and still trying to keep your sanity.

If you don't have a good support system, then this can be even more difficult. With a plan like this, you need to very clear on how you intend to proceed and what that means for everyone involved. It might be helpful if you keep a schedule where everyone can see it so they always know what to expect. They will probably be more prone to support you if they know this is giving your family a big financial benefit.

As you bring in the funds from your second job, you should make a budget on what bills will be paid at what time. That will help you keep track of what you owe and how much further you have to go on them. By following through with whatever payment agreements you have made with the different creditors, you'll show yourself to be less of a risk. Even if it's difficult for a while, it will make you feel better to have this reduced as time goes on. A little bit of financial sacrifice at this time will help you see the value of working two jobs for this duration of time. It will also give you and your family a reason to continue on with this decreased spending for as long as you need to, in order to get the most benefit.

Cutting Back on Credit Purchases

Of course, if you're going to go through all this effort, then you should also cut down on credit card spending. If you simply spend more on plastic instead of paying cash, then you're not getting ahead at all. You can make the most of your efforts by simply putting the credit cards away and paying down those bills as well. Then, when you're done working hard and splitting your time between two jobs, you'll actually have something to show for it. It will also have given you a reason to make better choices in the future and avoid further financial troubles. However, if you don't take the lesson and use it, then all of your hard work will have been for nothing. Doing this twice just shows you weren't really paying attention the first time.
